Bruce is right. You should concentrate on learning correct grammar and appropriate vocabulary, and on speaking and writing clearly and accurately.
The 'accent' does not matter, providing what you say is clear. If an Italian person speaks correct, clear English with an Italian accent, then that's fine. People will understand him or her. But if a person speaks bad, or inaccurate or confused English in an American (or British, or American, or South African accent) , then nobody will understand them.
Don't worry about 'accents' - just try to learn good English.

Tony:
This is a confused idea. It is unnecessary to practice an Accent.
One reason is that even in English as spoken in America, there are many different "accents".
If you attempt to imitate one particular American "accent" you will not be speaking in the other "accents".
There is no such thing as a single "accent" that is "right".
A better activity would be to focus on developing vocabulary.
Has someone told you that people care about the "accent" you use?

One of the difficulties faced by students of English, is that there are native speakers of English who will gladly teach foreigners all manner of "slang" expressions, in the pretense that they can "sound cool". They will carefully explain all manner of slang expressions to you and tell you when you can and cannot uses such expressions. They will assure you that you will "fit in".
The unfortunate part of that sort of "teaching" is that the part of the culture it "fits" you into,
is the part of the population which hardly even knows "English". Ghetto speak, profanity,
and superficial phrases adopted by a fringe culture or subculture in American Life is the kind of language used by people who can barely speak their own language.
The one striking fact that you will eventually learn about Americans and their use of English, is that the people that do not get represented in Movies, TV, and Music, are keenly aware of the affectation of an "act".
I could begin my message to you by writing; "Whazzup Tony?" If you understand human psychology, you would recognize that this treats you more as a person I do not respect, more than it treats you like a person that I do respect. I could talk to my family dogs in that way, and elicit enthusiasm and excitement from them by my tone and energy. People are far more complicated than that. We show our respect for people and their many states of mind and emotion when we use a more careful English with them.
