What does "Let's get something to eat" mean? (1) What does "Let's get something to eat" mean? I assume this sentence means; 1. Let's go out and eat somewhere like in a restaurant. 2. Let's go out to buy some food in a shop. (2) What kind of situations do you think of when you hear "Let's get something to eat"?

It could be both, but would usually be inviting someone to go with you to a restaurant. If the context was a husband and wife looking in the empty fridge then it might be the second, but it is less likely.
