If you are a beginner, it is important to read books at the right level, aimed at students like you. If you try to read advanced level books, or 'normal' native-speaker texts, you will just get lost and confused and learn nothing. All the main publishers of English language textbooks, such as Oxford University Press, Cambridge University Press, Pearson and so on, have a range of 'graded readers'. These are stories aimed specifically at learners, and they are written according to level - beginner, elementary, intermediate and advanced. The grammar and the vocabulary in these books is all appropriate to the level, and new vocabulary is explained in clear language. Start with the easiest ones, and then work your way up the levels. Good luck with your reading!

I recommend graded readers, such as Oxford Bookworms, Penguin Readers, Macmillan Readers and Cambridge English Readers. There are a lot of graded readers, so you can find any types of books. You can find good retelling of famous novels too!
