Ethymology of jukugo (compound character words)
Can anyone recommend a website or book about the ethymology of jukugo, compound character words?
So I want to be able to know HOW a combination of Japanese characters became to mean that specific word. For example 手紙. It means toilet paper in Chinese, but letter in Japanese. It is interesting for me to know the origin of this. Also it is easy for me to understand and remember the meaning of it. I want to be able to write kanji, not only read them.
