what are the differences between "look" and "seem" ?

"Look" is always visual. "Seem" can apply to any of the senses.

It depends on the context but examples below: "It seemed like he wasn't feeling well." -- This means that not only by the way he looked, but by the way that he was acting, behaving, talking, etc gave this impression "It looked like he wasn't feeling well. " -- This means that visually you could tell that he was not feeling well.
