I didn´t mean.... ----- Is there any difference on the meaning of these two sentences?
Hello everyone.
I´ve learned that when I want to say I feel sorry for anything I´ve done to someone I can use the following:
Ex: I didn´t mean to hurt you.
I didn´t mean to tell you those things.
But recently I came across this one: "I didn´t mean that."
Does this sentence mean that I didn´t want to say something?
Or " It was not what I meant" would be the right way to say: "I didn´t mean that."
I Thank you all :)

"That's not what I meant" is very often going to be the equivalent to "I didn't mean that."

I guess all these sentences are fine, "I didn't mean that", "I didn't mean to hurt you", "I didn't mean to do it" and so on... they all espress your intention to apologize.
