Difference between an earnest and a sincere person?
I guess both of the words are synonyms?

There's a saying that goes something like, "Be always sincere, but never earnest."
I think that the two words come with different feelings. An earnest person, for me, is very serious. They're also very sure about their own opinions, and would try to convince you that they are right. A sincere person would also be sure about their own convictions, but wouldn't try to always convince you that you are wrong.
