Cara Anna, When I lived in the U.K., people would watch an Italian series called "Detective Montalbano" or in Italian "Il commissario Montalbano". I would recommend it to you. You can find it on amazon.com and it has Italian subtitles. Elia

I learnt much English via songs and DVDs. My suggestion, maybe not the answer you wanted, is to connect to the amazon.it site, and search other there translations of the serials that you enjoyed in the original language. /friends/ could be great, if you like it, as there is much dialogue. The same could be said about NYPD (with very well written stories), or, at a slower pace of dialogue but at a very fast pasce of action '24 hours' (named just '24' in Italy. What about 'Doc Martin'? I would say: nice story, well written dialogues, and a not too fast pace. As you see I don't mention Italian serials, for several reasons.

I suggest: - Romanzo Criminale (the best, in my opinion) - Distretto Di Polizia - Boris - Camera Cafè - Love Bugs - Tutti Pazzi Per Amore

I recommend watching Italian shows at dailymotion.com. Enter dituttounpo1984 in the search box. This channel has many different shows like The Apprentice, Masterchef Italia, Bake Off Italia, etc. I really liked Bake Off Italia because they speak slowly and clearly.

You could safely Ignore the warning about 'dialetti'. Quite seldom a movie is spoken using regional dialect. Movie producers (who wants to make a good job and earn much money) and directors know their job also in Italy, and they know that the common language of Italian people is the Italian language.
