the word 那个 in slang. how often do you use it? i know that Chinese people use 那个 very often and this 那个 doesn't mean anything. it's like "you know" in English my groupmate used to put this 那个 after every single word. he sounds like this: 今天那个我那个想那个去那个超市那个买那个米饭,然后那个我那个回那个宿舍那个...... it blows my mind. do you often use it? i think it's spoken language and i should avoid using this very often, right? do people use it in formal situations? and can i say "nage" (not "neige"?

I didnt hear a lot of chinese people uses the word often in the life, besides some of officers working in the goverment. When those officers speak to the public, they like to use that word. Thats a kind of bureaucratic and hated expression. So try not to do that.

It's totally ok to say that word when you need more seconds to think about what you are gonna say. But don't use it too often in every sentence like your groupmate.

neige or nage is no much difference . 那个 is similar to " you know " . It's okay but you should avoid to using it very often .

It's just his pet phrase. Your groupmate uses it too often and it's really confusing! We don't use it too often especially in formal situations. And you really should avoid using this very often cause it's not good.
