A restraining order is what you can get from a judge/legal services if a person is being wayy too close in anyway, it usually happens after someone breaks it off with an abusive partner. You can get a restraining order to keep a stalker at bay.

I just googled this A restraining order or protective order is an order used by a court to protect a person or entity, and the general public, in a situation involving alleged domestic violence, harassment, stalking, or sexual assault. In the United States, every state has some form of domestic violence restraining order law, and many states also have specific restraining order laws for stalking and sexual assault. Restraining order - Wikipedia https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Restraining_order My example of a restraining order would be... The woman was terrified of her violent partner. The judge issued a restraining order which meant he was not allowed to go within 500 yards of her home or place of work. Hope that helps.
