The use of "in that ridge"?

OFFICER: So you’re Raptor team?
PSYCHO: Yeah. What’s left of it.
MARINE 1: We need to get you out of the open, rally point is any cover we can find in that ridge. We’ve got enemy inbound from all other directions!

I would expect "on the ridge" would be used. But the game script says "in the ridge". I don't get it.
I understand why you don’t get it. It seems like it's an error. To me, the only way that “in that ridge” and not “on that ridge” might make sense is if the ridge has a depression in it. A depression in which they can hide.
