배재하다? What does it mean?? I'm trying to translate these two sentences for my paper: "같은 시기에 김건모나 룰라에 의해 소개된 레게의 경우도 랩 음악의 수용과 비슷한 양상을 보여주며 저항성을 배재한 채 가요에 이식되었다. " "이러한 결과로 케이팝 또한 저항정신 이 배재되게 되고 대중들 또한 순응되어가고 있다. " I just can't seem to find what 배재하다 means. I can't find the definition on naver but considering that it is used in a scholarly article, I assume that it is a real word. Anybody know the definition? Thank you in advance.

It's "배제하다" : to exclude; to rule out Even many Koreans make this mistake because: they take it as 배(排, to push away) + 재 (在, presence) whereas it is actually 배(排, to push away) + 제 (除, to lift/to waive)
