In that case 'raising' is not translated as gerund in Spanish but as a noun.
The translation is: "Ceremonia de izamiento (raising of a flag) de la bandera"
"a reading room" - Un cuarto de lectura
"sleeping pills" - Píldoras para dormir

Flag Raising Ceremony = Ceremonia de la Iza de la bandera / Ceremonia del izamiento de la bandera.
* Izar = Poner en el lugar más elevado, subir (algún objeto) hasta lo más alto, elevar (algún objeto).
A reading room = habitación de lectura / cuarto de lectura / sala de lectura
Sleeping pills = pastillas para dormir / píldoras para dormir

Paco, very good info...
'Tomb-Sweeping day' could be literally translated to Spanish as 'Día de la Limpieza de Tumbas'.
Reading Paco's information it would be fine to translate it that way as it means somehow 'Cleaning Souls'.
