What is the difference between "ingen" and "inte" and when to use them correctly? When do I use ingen and inte? Example: Det spelar ingen roll. Jag har ingen reservation. Maten är inte god. Han är inte lärare. Also if someone can help with the pronunciation of lärare I would appreciate it. I have a hard time getting the pronunciation correct. Thank you. Rob

for the pronunciation of lärare (as for many others), you might have a look on Forvo site, which is a database of native speakers' contributions. as far as Sweden had one only dialect!

– inte = not – ingen = inte någon = no (i.e. not any), same for inget = inte något and inga = inte några Note, though, that "ingen" can only be used instead of "inte någon" if the words immediately follow each other. You can't change "jag har inte läst någon bok" to "jag har läst ingen bok", for example, because there's a word between "inte" and "någon".
