What is the meaning of "give talks"? Does it mean give lectures?
This exhibition, which opens next month... From 20-22 May there will be a visit from a European Space Agency astronaut who will give talks and answer visitors' guestions.

Yes you got it. "To give a talk" means to make a speech. It could be a lecture in front of an audience in a theatre indeed.
Synonyms: to address, to lecture, to make a speech, to speak (publicly).
