Can someone explain the difference between the sentence endings -네요 and -구나/군요?
I know they both have a sense of surprise and/or realization of something new but can someone explain when it is better to use one over the other? Thank you!

-네요 : more natural when speaker realized something directly on that very spot.
(I bought this skirt yesterday.)
B: 정말 멋지네요! (It's really nice!) (O)
(It's really nice!) (O)
-군요: it can go with most realization, or surprise. 군요 is interchangeable with -네요, but not vice versa.
(Road was slippery, because of heavy snow on Seoul last weekend)
B: 아, 그랬군요. (O) (Oh, was it?)
(X) same meaning but doesn't sound natural.
-군요 only used in situation when information from past suddenly makes sense.
(I heard Min-Jung had an car accident yesterday.)
B: 그래서 오늘 출근을 못했군요!(O) (That's why she couldn't come to work today!)
(X) sounds unnatural.
-other usage of '-네요'
1. when you question someone and ask for his/her consent.
(are you familiar with this equipment?)
(you are familiar with this equipment, right?) you catch my drift? sort of thing. it can make certain situation sounds like flirting so take a note and use it whenever you can.
2. describing own feeling with a taste.

(I don't like it somehow) = 좀 그래요.

The way I understand it 구나/군요 is more about the person you are talking with, and has a slight emphatic feel to it. " So, you like to cook" -"요리하기 좋아하는구나". While ~네 is more expressing surprise in general.
