"date back to" or "date back from" Hi, all I've run into this phrase while reading something about the Vikings and Leif Erikson. ---------------------------- "Experts also established that the remains dated back from around 1000 AD, exactly the time that Eriksson’s voyage had taken place. ---------------------------- But, I can't find many examples of "date back from" on Google. I personally like "the remanis date back to 1000 AD." much better. What are your suggestions? Thanks a lot.

I must be honest and say that I have always only mostly heard "dates back to" myself.

This phrase can be used, although it's not very common. Try finding it in English dictionary book if you want.
