Many people think that these two words are one thing. Even when they read newspapers , they often see misuse.
Indeed, when these two words are used as conjunctions, they can all show a causal relationship.
However, there are still several differences:
1. "因为" can only be used with "所以"; "由于" can be used together with "所以" or with "因此" and "因而". For example, "由于天气太热,因此大家都不出门" is OK, and "因为天气太热,因此大家都不出门" will not work.
2. "因为" constitutes a causal compound sentence that can be directly inverted, for example, "因为天太热,所以大家都不出门", "大家都不出门,因为天太热"; and "由于" constitutes a causal complex sentence, Can not be directly inverted, "大家都不出门,由于天太热" is misuse.
3. "因为" can be placed at the beginning of the sentence to answer the reason type question. "由于" cannot. "为什么大家都不出门?因为天太热了" is OK, but it can't be replaced by "由于".
