Hey Natália, I believe that you wonder whether you should use ''though'' and ''but'' in sentences, is that right? Well then, I shall provide you an explanation over the usage of them, as follows: 1) ''But'' = You usually use ''but'' to introduce something that contrasts with what you have just said. In this case, ''but'' gets the meaning of ''on the contrary''; ''yet''. E.g.: ''It was a long walk but it was worth it.'' E.g.: ''I try to understand, but I can't.'' * You may also use ''but'' to link adjectives or adverbs that contrast with each other. E.g.: ''We stayed in a small but comfortable hotel.'' E.g.: ''Quickly but silently she ran out of the room.'' ** ''But'' can also be used to mean ''except'' or ''only.'' For example: ''There was no time for anything but work.'' ''He had lived nowhere but the farm.'' ''She loved no one but herself.'' 2) ''Though'' = The word ''though'' means the same as ''despite the fact that''; ''although''; ''even if''; ''however.'' You use ''though'' to introduce a subordinate clause in which you mention something that contrasts with what you are saying in the main clause. ''Though'' is not used in very formal English. E.g.: ''I can't play the piano - I took lessons for years, though.'' E.g.: ''She wore a coat, even though it was a very hot day.'' * ''Though'' is also used when you are making a statement that contrasts with what you have just said. You usually put ''though'' after the first phrase in the sentence. E.g.: ''Fortunately though, this is a story with a happy ending.'' ** In conversation, you can also put ''though'' at the end of a sentence. E.g.: ''I can't stay. I'll have a coffee though.'' E.g.: ''I don't like going for walks very often. I'll walk a bit, though.'' Hope that helps!!!
