It means she didn't have to answer any more questions. She was "saved" or "excused" from doing so.

I agree with Ivy - to save someone from doing something. The way to use this verb is 'spare SOMEONE from SOMETHING' or 'spare SOMEONE from DOING SOMETHING'.

it was not necessary either a must for her to answer any more questions
