"agony" is extreme pain - physical or mental
"anguish" is intense mental suffering
"a pang" is a countable idea, often in the expressions "a pang of sorrow" or "birth pangs". It indicates a brief period of pain/sorrow. In the case of "birth", the pangs are recurrent.
