The irony of finding... 1. Does "The irony of finding the shopping trolley with its load of anti-tank rockets was not lost on Keane" mean "Keane has used the irony of a shopping trolley full of anti-tank rockets in this artwork"? 2. What does "transmogrification of culture and topography" mean? Context: "Mickey Mouse at the Front" is the quintessential Keane painting, a transmogrification of culture and topography, an allegory of a city that has been raped, abused, shat upon and abandoned. The irony of finding the shopping trolley with its load of anti-tank rockets was not lost on Keane, who has frequently used the ubiquitous trolley in his work as a symbol of consumerism (Art and War by Laura Brandon).

1) Keane was aware of the irony, it was not a surprise to him. 2) Transmogrification is change of one thing into another in a spiritual, mysterious, magical way. The culture and shape of the city is represented in an unreal way that illustrates the way it has been abused. In other words, the way the painting looks in the picture is a magical transformation of the way the city appears in a photograph and that the transformation shows the nature of the city in a new way that shows the deeper way.
