what tense am i supposed to use?
suppose I am to retell a senario from a video clip of a movie. what kind of tense shall I use?
To be more specific, which of the following is correct?
①The class begins. All the students are interested and listen carefully.
②The class began.All the students were interested and listened carefully.

You choose.
You can narate in the present or the past.

Just be consistent. It's the changing tense that throws people for a loop.

Note: The students LISTEN, 3rd person plural, they listen.
Both are good, you can narrate in the present tense, describing the action as though it is unfolding in front of you.
You can also use the past, as Nanren888 said just be consistent.
