American English Hi, there I’d like to know what the equivalent American English word is for the British English idiom “Don’t come the...with me”(does it sound odd to say “I’d like to know WHAT the equivalent American English word IS FOR the British idiom...”?) “. For example “Don’t come the innocent/doctor with me”. It is something like "don't act innocent/don't act like you are doctor..." Thank you

Yes, “don’t act” works in American English. So does “don’t play” — “Don’t play the innocent with me.” Here, “play” has the sense of “play-act” (perform a role like an actor) not the sense of “have fun.”
