I´d like to know the meaning of "prestaged /prestaging" in this context.
I´d like to know the meaning of "prestaged /prestaging" in this sentence:
"The master gets a tape label and the file name of the next file to be prestaged from the queue-file and start prestaging. "

Hello Julia,
Those words "prestaged" or "prestaging" don't really exist.
Maybe you could check again ,it might be a typing error!

prestage is not available in the general English dictionary.
But It looks like a technical word in your sentence.
Microsoft also using the same in Distributed File System (DFS) data backup.

From the sentence, prestage is assumed as marking or placing.
"prestaged", here it means that the name of the file is going to be marked.
"prestaging" here, it means that the marking is in process.
