What is 'on the property'?
As in the sentence:
It was their intention to become less of a commune and more of a community, with the families living in separate houses on the property.
Thank you!
It is as Wozitoya said property is another word for land but specifically land that is owned. In this this case, by saying that they lived in houses "on the property" it means that they lived in houses on the land owned by the commune.
