How do I write "half" (and other fractions) in email? (not just 1/2)

Well, you can do this:
1) Hold down "Alt" key
2) Type 0, 1, 8, 9 (while still holding Alt key)
3) Release "Alt" key... tada~
Your IME must be set to ENGLISH! Not Chinese, not Japanese, not Korean but ENGLISH!! lol
Here goes: ½... and ...¼ (0188), ¾ (0191)

If you want to use numbers, use .5 for half. Two-and-a-half (for example) will be 2.5 ...but naturally tricky when dealing with other fractions (two-thirds, four-fifths etc). Write out the full words if in doubt.
Alternately, you can find a "½" character in the Character Map program on your computer (if you use Windows).
