meeting a foreigner for the first time may require you to present a friendly gesture like for instance, a warm smile... of course, you wouldn't immediately tell your name (unless the foreigner asked for it). just a simple "Hello" to break the ice, then start a good topic (that would depend on the situation). After a short conversation, you can now introduce your name: "oh, by the way, I'm Lenka,(I'm just two blocks away from here... ) and you are.....??? "please to meet you." and there it goes... :)

When talking to someone for the first time, always begin with "Hi, my name is ____, nice to meet you!", or you can also say "Hi, I'm ___, nice to meet you!" It's a very polite opening and shows the other person you mean well. To my knowledge the etiquette in introductions in english isn't all that complex, it mostly depends on the situation. Once you know each others name you can ask questions like "So, where are you from?", "What do you do?" and so on in order to get to know the other person better. No matter how you do it, if you are kind and courteous you will be treated kindly in return ^_^ Hope this helps!

You must not freak him/her out. Make it appear natural and spontaneous with a genuine smile. You can start with: You: “You aren't from here, right?" The foreigner:" Yeah, Actually I'm a tourist" You:" Great! There are many cool places around you should see". The foreigner: “I visited the castle & the museum, already". You:" Didn't you see the lake? The landscape is awesome!", " By the way, I'm ******" …… Anyway, it depends on the standards and the cultural background of the foreigner, too.
