Are Canadians and Mexicans considered to be North Americans?
I consider myself American. I was born in New York which is on the North American Continent. I consider any person born within the country known as the USA to be an American and a North American. However Canadians are definitely in the North American Continent. Do they classify themselves as North Americans? How about the Mexican people? Do they consider themselves to be North American or Central American or just Mexican? I always refer anyone born in the South American continent be they from Brazil, Chile, Ecuador, Peru,Bolivia, Guiana, Argentina etc... To be South American... Classification is important to me... It helps me establish commonality differences with the rest of the world. So I am just want opinions.

What would Canada be otherwise? Ultima Thule America?

Well geographically North-America includes whole Central-America & Caribbean but I guess the most common context is that North-America is just USA & Canada...

In my opinion, the North American only refers to the continent, but not the nationality.
