First and most important are you need learnig Japanese alphabet. Formal name is "Hiragana(ひらがな)". Alphabet starts from ABCDE...... Japanese Hiragana starts from a i u e o (あいうえお). And Japanese sentence is made of 3kinds words. 1."Hiragara(ひらがな)" 2."Katakana(カタカナ)" 3."Kanji(漢字)". For example.... 1.わたし 2.ワタシ 3.私 They are all "I" means. If you want to introduce yourself to somebody, in English is "Hello, my name is MalinDragon " isn't you? In Japanese is "こんにちは、私のなまえはマリンドラゴンです。" !! 「Hello,=こんにちは、」 「my=私」 「name=なまえ」 「is=は」 「MalinDragon=マリンドラゴン」 「is=です。」 Children many use HIragana. Adults many use Kanji. Because Kanji is difficult. So I recommend learnig Hiragana at first to you!
