What does "The worst wife is better than a dutiful child" mean?

It doesn't make much sense to me. Total irrelevance!
What is the point of drawing comparison between one's wife and child ?!
It is like saying the worst teacher is better than a skilful basketball player !

It means someone has serious emotional problems.

I never heard of that statement, but literally, it is saying that it is better to be married to a bad wife than to have an obedient child. I don't agree with that philosophy at all.
