In my dialect, we pronounce the suffix "hon" as "on".
I'm wondering which verb best describes not pronouncing a specific letter by people living in the same region.
Should I say: "the 'h' is {dropped}" or "the 'h' is {omitted}"?
Thank you.

We would say the “h” is silent.

I would use omitted rather than dropped.
Though if I were explaining it to a student a I would probably just say "The 'h' is silent" though :)
