"wedding reception" and "wedding ceremony" What's the difference between them?

The wedding ceremony is the time when the couple actually gets married. The reception is the time following the ceremony. It can be anything from a small gathering of friends, who congratulate the couple, to a large party that lasts for hours (even days in some cultures).
