The climber failed ____ his attempts to reach the summit.
A. in
B. at
C. with
Note: Besides “in,” do we sometimes use other prepositions in conjunction with “fail”? If so, can you think of some examples? I can only think of “fail to do something” Thanks

I would say 'in' and 'at' are both good, they're both certainly very commonly used.

**failed on**

Got it, so "he failed his nth attempt" is also acceptable. Thanks for the confirmation!

As Bill said, both "in" and "at" work in your example sentence. Another preposition you can use with "fail" is "on" but it's used in a more specific way: "The climber failed on his first/last/next attempt to reach the summit."
