Super Ball? I read a news about American football. I'm surprised to see the word, "Super Bowl". I had thoughtit was "Super Ball" for more than twenty years. Why is it "bowl"? Is the shape of stadium like bowl?

Google says this: AFL founder and Kansas City Chiefs owner Lamar Hunt jokingly referred to the proposed game as the Super Bowl, after watching a group of kids play with a toy called a "Super Ball." The name was consistent with college "bowl" games, and became the permanent football championship moniker. The term "bowl" originated from the Rose Bowl stadium, site of the first post-season college football games. The Rose Bowl Stadium, in turn, takes its name and bowl-shaped design from the Yale Bowl, the prototype of many football stadiums in the United States.

Yes. The super bowl is the most important "bowl game" after the regular season, but there are several others for professional and college teams. The first one was the "Rose Bowl", which was first played in the Rose Bowl stadium in 1922. Eventually, the name of the competition became more famous than the name of the stadium, and when other games started happening after the normal season, they were named after the "Rose Bowl", giving new names like the "Heritage Bowl" and the "Wheat Bowl". The Super Bowl was created to be the most important of these bowl games.
