What are your methods to learn a language?
What do you usually do when you want to learn a new language, how do you start?
I start with Music (reading the lyrics and singing along to improve both my comprehension and pronunciation).

yeah music is the best also because it's real society from deep inside
however learning songs is too passive, doesn't work very well
(listening comprehension yes, is a good work indeed)
try this method: make questions to learn the lyrics
song says: "---I see your blue eyes",
you write: "---what does he see?"
in this way you learn making questions, which is pure grammar
questions are also synthetic way to take notes
questions make us intelligent
this is my best method

Yes, your way is very useful. I do the same, but I learn faster reading books and watching movies as well. In my opinion, the best way to succeed in a language is to practise it everyday (speaking is one of the skills you must take care of). Try to make sentences with the words that you already know, then expand them into more complex constructions. It works pretty well on me.
