Hi, I'm Michelle! I'm from Sydney, Australia. My native language is English, which I speak with a standard Australian accent, and I also speak German fluently. I spent over 20 years teaching mathematics and then completed university studies in linguistics. I absolutely love teaching and I have a very clear understanding of the types of challenges faced by my language students, as I am a language learner myself (currently learning Italian, French and Portuguese).

I work best with the following types of students:
English lessons:
- Someone who has already learned some English and understands English grammar concepts in general, but wants to improve their speaking and comprehension skills to feel more confident when having conversations with English speakers
- Plans to live in or visit Australia OR is a native German speaker
German lessons:
- Someone who is an English speaker (native / non-native)
- Is at the beginner or intermediate stages of their German learning, and wants to better understand German grammar concepts
* I teach adults, not young learners (minimum age 15) *My lessons & teaching style
English lessons:
I specialise in helping my students to develop the skills needed to speak and understand natural conversational English. During the lessons, we will discuss a range of different topics - I will correct your mistakes and provide additional explanations as we talk. I can also answer your questions about English and help you to improve your pronunciation, reading and writing skills.
German lessons:
In my experience, beginner to intermediate learners learn most effectively when grammar is explained in a language they already understand, so I explain German grammar in English for English speakers. I can also assist with German pronunciation, sentence building and reading skills.My teaching material
