📜 SONETO DE AMOR (II)
O amor é um sonho que se sonha
e que se sonha sempre.
É um louco que se ama, e que se ama
e que se desconhece.
O amor é um rio que corre sem fim,
e que a gente não vê.
É um gosto de luz e de sombra,
e de tudo o que não se pode dizer.
Fernando Pessoa
(Alberto Caeiro)

Did you know that Ukrainian rusalky were very different from the mermaids we see in modern movies? 🌿
In Ukrainian folklore, rusalky were often believed to be the restless souls of young women whose lives ended too soon, before they had the chance to experience love, marriage, and the future they dreamed of.
One detail people would immediately recognize was their long loose hair. Traditionally, unmarried girls wore their hair this way, so it carried a deeper meaning than simple beauty.
There was even a belief that when a rusalka sat by the water and slowly combed her wet hair, rain would soon follow.
I love how a single folklore image can tell us so much about how people once viewed nature, life, and fate.
What is a folklore story from your culture that has a deeper meaning behind it? 🌧️🌿
