In this lesson, I will provide audio to you in advance as a homework assignment, and explain how to practice. You will do shadowing practice every day for a week before the lesson. In the lesson, I will correct the areas in your pronunciation that still need to be improved.

I recommend that you think of this class as a 25-min intense focus session because it requires 100% focus. I will help you gradually cultivate a sense of the Japanese pitch-accent system. It is similar to how you might slowly get a sense of the kanji stroke order system, as they both require time as you gradually acquire knowledge. Once you acquire a sense of the system, you will eventually be able to figure out what the pitch is naturally without my guidance.

If you are a beginner-level learner, this is a great chance for you to avoid memorizing the wrong pitch accent. When your brain gets used to the wrong pitch, it becomes extremely difficult to correct it. Therefore, rather than correcting ingrained mistakes, it will be much easier if you just memorize the correct pitch from the beginning.
