Today's piece of vocabulary is "to strike a chord", which means to cause someone to feel sympathy, emotion, or enthusiasm. For instance,
"the issue of food safety strikes a chord with almost everyone"

Don't forget that "strike" is an irregular verb, so in the past tense this becomes "struck", as in "your speech really struck a chord with me".

こんにちは！
Japanese daily life podcast のAtsushiです。
このPodcastは、日本語を勉強しているみなさんに向けたPodcastです。


今回も海外旅行の続きです。
オランダのマーストリヒトからアムステルダムまで、バスで移動しました。3時間ぐらいでつきました。

アムステルダムに着くと、その日は早速、移動しました。
いくつか街を見たかったので、電車に乗って、ロッテルダムへ行きました。ロッテルダムへは電車で1時間はかからなかったと思います。

ロッテルダムは結構都会な感じでした。
自分の記憶で話をすると、日本に少し似ている雰囲気がありました。

大阪に本町、というビジネス街があります。
ここは都会的で、整っている感じですね。

もちろん、ロッテルダムにはもう少し観光の感じもありますが、全体的には都会的な、整った、きれいな印象でした。

ロッテルダムの場所を1つ紹介すると、

これですね。

アーチ型の大きな建物の中に、マーケットのような形で、いろんな国の飲食店がありました。

とてもユニークなな形をしているので、ぜひ一度見てほしいです。見たことがないような形をしています。

ここで食べた、オランダの食べ物、キベリングというのがとてもおいしかったです。これも友達に教えてもらっていて、探していたところ、偶然見つけたので買いました。

キベリングは鱈たらの唐揚げからあげ、のようなものです。
鱈の身がとてもフワフワしていておいしかったです。(ここでいうフワフワは食感しょっかんのことです。焼き魚の身がとてもやわらかくなっている状態のことをフワフワ、と表現しました)

あとは、スターバックスで少しゆっくりして、歩いて駅に戻りました。

その途中にとても良い店がありました。

日本語にすると緑の通路みたいな感じですね。

ここはオーガニック、ベジタリアン、ヴィーガンなどを考えられたショップがありました。

もちろん、少し値段は高かったですが、こだわっていて、美味しそうなものがたくさんありました。ロッテルダムに住んだら、来たいなと思う店でした。

ということで、ロッテルダムの話でした。
整った街、という印象でしたが、第二次世界大戦の時にかなり爆撃を受け、そこから新しい街が作られたようです。
