Annoying Colleagues Affect Productivity, Say Workers
Description
You've been working for weeks on a project and finally get it finished, but someone else takes the credit — what could be more annoying?
Nothing, according to a new workplace survey! It found that people who steal your credit are the most annoying colleagues to work with.
Jobs site Kickresume asked almost 2,900 people around the world about the things that annoy them at work, and they had a lot to talk about!
Around 85% of people said they've worked with an annoying person.
And annoying colleagues don't just make people roll their eyes — they actually affect productivity too. In fact, almost six out of 10 people said that having annoying colleagues has a big effect on their productivity.
Thirty percent of people have a problem with colleagues who complain too much, while the same number get annoyed by those who don't respect personal space — they always stand a little too close!
Colleagues who steal other people's food from the fridge are also a source of annoyance.
Another common annoyance is bosses who micromanage — watching every move you make.
So what can we do about annoying behavior at work?
Many people say they'd like to talk to the person about it, but most don't have the courage.
Instead, 32% of people said they just try to stay away from the person who is annoying them. But that's not always easy, especially if they're stealing your credit — or your lunch!
Experts suggest speaking to a manager about workplace problems.
But here's a question: how do you know if you're not one of the people annoying your colleagues yourself?
