Serial-Verb Sentence
Description
It is called serial-verb sentence whose predicate is made up of no less than two verbs or verb phrases initiated by the same subject without any pauses or coordinators.
(1)The latter action is the aim of the former one.
wǒ qù ɡōnɡ yuán pǎo bù 。
我去公园跑步。 I go to the park for running.
jīnɡ lǐ mínɡ tiān lái běi jīnɡ kāi huì 。
经理明天来北京开会。 The manager will come to Beijing for a meeting tomorrow.
(2)The former action is the manner or instrument of the latter one.
wǒ kāi chē qù ɡōnɡ sī 。
我开车去公司。 I drive to the office.
jīnɡ lǐ zuò fēi jī lái běi jīnɡ 。
经理坐飞机来北京。 The manager will come to Beijing by plane.
zhōnɡ ɡuó rén yònɡ kuài zi chī fàn 。
中国人用筷子吃饭。 Chinese people eat with chopsticks.
