Holiday Special. Today I’d like to share with you some end-of-year traditions we celebrate in our home which is a mixture of three cultures.

Teacher Smith and Den were having a natural, unplanned conversation about Den’s journey to becoming fluent in English. Den reflected on how he once struggled but improved by immersing himself in English-speaking environments and practicing regularly. Over time, his confidence grew, and now, to Teacher Smith’s admiration, Den has even become an English teacher himself. They shared a laugh about how fluent he sounds today and marvelled at his impressive progress.

15 DE SEPTIEMBRE EN MÉXICO.


Lo que se celebra el 15 de septiembre es el aniversario del legendario Grito de Dolores, el episodio clave que dio inicio al movimiento de Independencia de México. 

Durante este acontecimiento, el cura Miguel Hidalgo y Costilla hizo un llamado a la población para levantarse en armas contra el Virreinato de la Nueva España. Sin embargo, este famoso arco de la historia aconteció durante la madrugada del 16 de septiembre. Entonces ¿Qué se festeja el 15 de septiembre?  

Entre bailes, música regional, magnos eventos y mucha fiesta, México se pinta con los colores de la patria, verde, blanco y rojo; para conmemorar la historia y a los héroes que nos dieron libertad hace poco más de 200 años. 

Los días 15 y 16 de septiembre son una fiesta nacional que se celebra alrededor de todo México y el mundo, pues las comunidades de mexicanos en otros países se unen a la celebración, a pesar de la distancia. 

En México, septiembre es conocido como el mes patrio. Por casualidades de la vida o un destino ya escrito, durante este mes se dieron acontecimientos importantes que cambiaron la historia para la sociedad mexicana, especialmente los días 15 y 16 de septiembre, pues son las fechas en que se conmemora el aniversario de la Independencia de México.

Sin embargo, la historia nos dice que el movimiento indepentista inició oficialmente durante la madrugada del 16 de septiembre y que además, el mismo José María Morelos y Pavón propuso solemnizar el 16 de septiembre en su célebre escrito “Sentimientos de la Nación”, entonces ¿Qué pasa el 15 de septiembre?

¿Por qué se celebra el 15 de septiembre? La respuesta data del año de 1840, pues la gente acostumbraba comenzar los festejos con discursos y fiestas que terminaban la noche del 16 con fuegos artificiales, siendo la Alameda Central de la CDMX uno de los lugares más concurridos para vivir las fiestas patrias desde esos tiempos y hasta la fecha.
