Making It Happen: Causatives Like Cheyyikkuka and Kudippikkuka | Spoken Malayalam #038
Description
English uses extra verbs to make someone else do something: make him drink, get her to eat, have it done, help the baby sleep. English speakers translate those helper verbs one by one and say things like അവനെ കുടിക്കാൻ ഉണ്ടാക്കി (avane kudikkaan undaakki), which means something like "built him to drink". Malayalam changes the verb itself.
In this episode:
• The main pattern: -ikkuka becomes -ippikkuka
• Teaching: padippikkuka
• Other common shapes
• Show and tell: kaanikkuka and ariyikkuka
• Getting something done: cheyyikkuka
• Language bridge
• Practice
• Self-check questions with answers
