Joining Actions: Kazhichittu, Vannappol, Pokumbol, Cheythu Kondu | Spoken Malayalam #033
Description
English joins actions with little words: and, then, after, when, while, without, to. English speakers look for a Malayalam word for "and" and try to string verbs together with it, saying something like ഞാൻ എഴുന്നേറ്റു ഉം കുളിച്ചു ഉം (njaan ezhunnettu um kulichu um), which sounds broken. Malayalam joins actions by changing the END of every verb except the last one.
In this episode:
• "and then": the chain form
• "after doing": -ittu
• "when": -appol and -umbol
• "without": -aathe
• "while doing": -kondu
• "in order to": -aan
• Language bridge
• Practice
• Self-check questions with answers
