Some people think that organizing games, for example, the Olympic games, have many advantages, whereas others consider it is the wastage of money. I, however, side with the former view. Admittedly, there are negative effects of organizing the Olympic games. All the workforce is allocated in organizing the Olympic games, meaning the other important aspects of the host country, such as poverty, health, and education, are back seated. Besides this, a neighbouring city or state's tourism is affected as everyone is going to the host country to view the Olympics. Lastly, sometimes these games can lead to over patriotism which can provoke people; football hooliganism is one such example. On the flip side, there are a lot of positive effects for a host country. Firstly, it boosts the host country's economy because participants and spectators spend money on hotels, shopping, etcetera in that country. Secondly, it opens new job opportunities in various sectors, as it requires people all the way from the planning to the marketing of the event. Thirdly, it brings the whole world closer as people come to know about the culture, traditions, language and values of the host country. Finally, the infrastructure of the host country is improved, which can be beneficial for the country later. For example, in India, a bridge and a stadium were constructed to host the 1998's Common Welfare Games; the stadium later served for helping many national games like Cricket, and the bridge helped in reducing the traffic in Delhi. To conclude, although there are negative consequences of conducting international games, I believe the positive effects are many more.
