【Question】Why Greek?
I’m wondering that the COVID variant name’s are used by Greek, instead of other languages.
One of these, “Kappa” makes me funny a little bit, because it’s a same sound as Japanese monster’s name who lives in the river and likes a cucumber.🥒

You'll notice that the Greek alphabet is used a lot in subjects like Math , physics and biology.
So in physics, you have alpha particles, in biology you have beta hormones. In mathematical calculations you'll find yourself using loads of variables with Greek letters.
In truth, the variants have complex scientific names like B.1.1.7., so this is simpler.

Sometimes Greek is used as a fancy language or some thinks it makes things fancier I guess ^^
