Hi, I reckon you language learners must have had an experience that you struggled to seek a perfect word to fit in the meaning of a foreign word or term. Here’s a Chinese phrase I want to find out a suitable word to describe it, it’s the one has been underlined in the picture below. The explanation for it in the picture is 100% wrong, although that picture was posted by a professional teacher on Itaki. However, Its correct meaning should be“a well known idiom, as well as the story behind it”, according to Wiki of Chinese version(the 2nd picture below). I know some interesting English idioms has stories, like “break a leg”, “turn a blind eye”so on. So would you be able to think of a word or term to translate it?
