That's such a good question. I think it's a very important part but not the most important. Good and continuous teacher training, mentoring by other teachers, and actual teaching hours are the main factors in becoming a good language teacher. However, being a good language learner gives you perspective, empathy, and first-hand knowledge of what works.

Honestly no. I think people who have struggled with language learning are more likely to be patient instructors because they can sympathize with students’ difficulties.

Being skilled at learning languages can help in teaching them, as it fosters empathy for learners' challenges, offers effective strategies, and inspires motivation. Yet, teaching also demands specific skills like lesson planning, managing classrooms, and adapting to diverse student needs, beyond just understanding language acquisition. While learning experience is beneficial, effective teaching requires a broader set of teaching skills and experiences.
