"When I watch reality shows, it distracts me from my busy schedule for a while" is a bit more natural way to say that! "Distract" is a great word to use here. I think a lot of people use TV to distract themselves :) However, people typically use "from" with the word distract to talk about the thing they cannot focus on. For example, "Please don't distract me from my work." Or "TV distracts me from studying."
